BOS Team

Meet the Certified Clinicians with our Before Operational Stress Online Program. The team brings a culmination of clinical experience, cultural competence, and unique stories from individuals in the frontlines. We are both honoured and excited to provide this program to our clients.

Dr. Megan McElheran

Founder of BOS & CEO of Wayfound


Dr. Megan McElheran is a Clinical Psychologist and CEO of Wayfound Mental Health Group.  She founded the BOS program to address the gap in preventative mental health training and support for public safety personnel and frontline workers. Dr. McElheran completed her graduate training at the PAU-Stanford University Clinical Psychology Consortium, where she obtained specialized training in the treatment of PTSD. Dr. McElheran is passionate about arming frontline workers with the tools they need to help manage their workplace stress.

    CLINICAL PSYCHOLOGIST & CHIEF CLINICAL OFFICER

    He/Him

    Dr. Lawrence Deck is the Chief Clinical Officer at Wayfound. He has been practicing as a psychologist since 2009. Dr. Deck graduated with his Master’s degree in counselling from California State University, Fresno. He subsequently completed his Ph.D. in psychology, forensic specialization through Walden University (Minneapolis, MN). Dr. Deck’s areas of interest include trauma, anger and aggression, and youth with behavioural difficulties.

    CLINICAL PSYCHOLOGIST & BOS CLINICAL LEAD

    Dr. Andrew Carlquist is a registered clinical psychologist in Ontario specializing in first responders, military veterans, and other uniformed service personnel and front-line workers. Andrew completed his doctoral training at La Salle University in Philadelphia and trained in CBT at the University of Pennsylvania Center for Cognitive Therapy. He completed his pre- and post-doctoral training at the US Veterans Affairs Connecticut Healthcare System. His focus is on recovery from trauma and operational stress injuries, moral injury, resilience, bereavement and grief (especially after suicide), and health behaviour change. His clinical approach is empirically-informed, primarily cognitive-behavioural (CBT) and mindfulness-based therapies. He is certified in Cognitive Processing Therapy and has specialized training in Prolonged Exposure, CBT for insomnia, and CBT for chronic pain.

    She/Her

    Lucia Antonucci is a Registered Psychologist with the College of Alberta Psychologist (CAP) and is a member of the Psychologist Association of Alberta (PAA). She also holds certificates in both crisis and suicide intervention. Taking a client-centered approach while working with adults, children, young people, Lucia views the healing process as a collaboration between client and therapist and her practice emphasizes respect, acceptance, realness, and empathy. Additionally, Lucia provides group therapy and administers psychoeducational workshops to clients in private practice and public organizations.

    Lucia has specialized training in working with public service personnel such as EMS, Fire, Police, and Veterans and holds certificates for Occupational Awareness Trainings.

    REGISTERED PSYCHOLOGIST

    Unfulfilled in her role as a scientist working in the oil and gas industry, Alanna decided to pursue her passion for psychology. She graduated with a Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology from Yorkville University in 2015, obtained certification as a Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT 200), and began her career in occupational rehabilitation. Her favourite things about her role as a psychologist are the profound changes she has the privilege to witness in clients who are recovering from the effects of trauma through Eye-Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), and the opportunity to help her clients return to work and retrieve their sense of purpose. She incorporates a variety of evidence-based treatment modalities to meet her clients where they are at and believes strongly in educating clients about their symptoms and the recommended treatment to empower them to take charge of their own rehabilitation. She believes in her clients’ capacity for resilience – to learn, grow stronger, and recover meaning by working through adversity.

    BOS PROGRAM DIRECTOR

    She/Her

    Shonda Feddema is a seasoned professional with 20 years experience in leadership and management. With an unwavering commitment to fostering mental wellness, Shonda has been an integral part of the Before Operational Stress (BOS) program since its inception in 2018. From her early role as Program Coordinator & Project Leader to her current position as Program Director at Wayfound Mental Health Group, she has passionately dedicated herself to orchestrating the growth and success of BOS. Shonda oversees all administrative aspects of the BOS suite of services, including operations, financial management, and business development. Shonda's achievements include the management of a 5.1 million dollar federal grant project that brought BOS programming to over 70,000 frontline workers across Canada.

    Ryan Collyer

    BOS LEAD & CLINICAL LIAISON

    He/Him

    Ryan Collyer is a retired Advanced Care Paramedic from Calgary, Alberta. He is currently serving as the Team Lead and Clinical Liaison for Before Operational Stress Inc., supporting proactive protection programs for Public Safety Personnel, healthcare workers, military members, and others who work in trauma exposed professions. Ryan's time in public service includes over 23 years in EMS holding positions spanning from frontline to leadership, along with time serving fire suppression (wildland and structural), and a current role as a Disaster Medical Specialist with Canada Task Force 2.

    Ryan has dedicated the past 15 years of his career to advocacy for comprehensive first responder mental health supports and is a respected subject matter expert, having both served and provided support services. Ryan is a peer support specialist trained in Group Crisis Intervention (ICISF), Suicide Prevention Intervention and Postvention (ICISF), Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST), and Prolonged Exposure Therapy. Additionally, Ryan is a certified educator of the Before Operational Stress and Trauma Informed Leadership programs. Ryan aims to inspire others to embrace courageous authenticity and pursue meaningful change in self and others. He firmly believes in the concept of "in service of others" and lives by the Latin phrase "acta non verba" (actions, not words).

    Elle Elopre

    BOS PROGRAM COORDINATOR

    She/Her

    Elle is the lead program administrator for the BOS Program. Bringing exceptional administrative prowess to the Before Operational Stress (BOS) program, Elle is a dedicated professional with a keen eye for detail and a passion for organization. With a proven track record in managing the intricate logistics of BOS program operations, she ensures seamless coordination, participant intake, and data tracking. Elle's role extends to developing and refining administrative processes, contributing to the creation of program manuals and promotional materials. She has completed her bachelor’s degree in psychology at the University of Calgary. She hopes to continue to pursue her education and become a registered psychologist.
